Spring School 2024

The second edition of the international Spring School on «Science, Religion and Health» took place in the city of Barcelona from 15 to 17 May 2024.

Following the success of the first edition, the primary aim of the Spring School was to provide a strong theoretical and methodological foundation for early-career researchers conducting social scientific research on the entanglements and boundaries between science, religion, and health. The Spring School was organized around a combination of public lectures by recognized scholars in the field and paper sessions where participants presented their ongoing research in small groups to receive feedback. The programme also included one-to-one encounters between early-career scholars and senior scholars.

As part of the programme, Rafael Cazarín conducted a workshop entitled «Applied Intersectionality and Critical Analysis».

This edition was organised by the International Research Network on Science, Religion & Health and the research group ISOR (Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona), led by Mar Griera. The Network is funded by the International Research Network for the Study and Science and Belief in Society (INSBS). Rosa Martinez-Cuadros was the program coordinator of this edition.

Keynote speakers included:

  • Mar Griera, Autonomous University of Barcelona
  • Rafael Cazarín, Autonomous University of Barcelona
  • Alberta Giorgi, University of Bergamo
  • Hansjörg Dilger, Freie Universität Berlin
  • Verónica Giménez Béliveau, CONICET
