Submission Guidelines

About the Blog


The Crosswise Blog aims to publish short, accessible pieces that present ongoing research or recent findings in a concise and engaging way. Contributions are intended for both expert and non-expert audiences and should communicate key ideas clearly without assuming specialized knowledge.

Submission Format


We invite you to submit your contribution in Times New Roman, 12-point font, single-spaced, as a .docx or .rtf (Word) file.
Your article should be 600–800 words.

Submission Requirements

Please submit one document that includes:

  • Your blog text
  • Your current institutional affiliation (as you would like it to appear)
  • An optional contact email address (preferably institutional), if you are happy for it to be included in the published post

In addition, please attach one or two images to accompany your text (see “Visual Material” below for guidance).

Content Style

  • Title: Choose a short, engaging title (we recommend no more than 15 words). Use clear, accessible language throughout the piece.
  • Research Trajectory: Briefly outline your academic background and how you arrived at your current research topic.
  • Key Research Question(s): Present your research questions in plain, easy-to-understand language.
  • Why It’s Important: Explain the significance of your work. What are you contributing to the field, and why does it matter socially and scientifically?
  • Methods and Techniques: Describe how you conducted your research or how you plan to do it.
  • Findings: Share your main results or, if ongoing, your preliminary insights or expectations.
  • Engagement with Existing Work: If relevant, you are welcome to refer to previously
  • published articles (including those on the Crosswise Blog or elsewhere) related to your topic. This helps situate your contribution within ongoing discussions. Where possible, please include hyperlinks.
  • Visual Material: We encourage you to include images illustrating your research. Ideally, these should be materials you collected during fieldwork (e.g., graphics, posters, rituals, or objects). Please ensure you have permission to share them. Visit our website for examples.
  • Social Media Accounts: Include any social media handles (e.g., X, Facebook, LinkedIn) that you would like us to tag.
